Event Overview

Celebrate music’s power to connect us, unite us, and lift us up at ReelMusic 2022, which showcases the talents of jazz, rock (and more!) musicians and performers who live with disabilities. ReelMusic 2022 will feature ReelMusicians from the past, new-to-the-Festival ReelMusicians, and our ReelMusic house band of Andrew Lienhard, David Craig, Kelly Dean, and Gavin Moolchan.

Kelly Dean, one of Houston's most sought-after musicians, has performed with a list of globally-recognized artists. When not inspiring students as an Instrumental Music teacher at the Emery/Weiner School, Kelly can be found bringing his talent to major Houston stages.

Andrew Lienhard is a pianist and software developer living in Houston, Texas. After graduating from HSPVA, he started touring with famed Blue Note saxophonist Ronnie Laws. He has since performed with Kirk Whalum, Joe Henderson, Hubert Laws, Doc Powell, Mindi Abair & many others.

Gavin Moolchan is a drummer born and raised in Houston. He is a freelance musician and private instructor covering a wide range of genres. He has performed and toured both nationally and internationally with some of Houston’s most respected musicians and groups.

Teo Bijarro, (check out his “The Blind Bassist” YouTube channel) is also a singer, guitarist, and arranger who has played jazz in Houston for 25-plus years. He is an active advocate for those experiencing hearing loss.
Kyle Cousins
Kyle Cousins channels Freddie Mercury in Houston’s Queen Legacy tribute band, composes and performs his own music, and is a proud crew member at the nonPareil Institute of Houston. Visit Kyle’s Facebook to learn more about his upcoming March 13 performance.

Brennan Quarles Emeka is super-excited to return as a ReelMusic performer. He is part of TUTS’ The River performance troupe and The Academy at Humphreys School of Musical Theatre.
Noriann Dogium
Noriann Doguim is a singer and actor with Alliance Theatre and Better Together Performing Arts Academy. An inclusion advocate, she is a compassionate and loving soul whose performances come straight from her heart.
Sophia Velasquez
Sophia Velasquez has been playing violin since age 7 and, along with major stages around town, has performed with Alliance Theatre, the American Festival of the Arts, Houston Youth Symphony and Baytown Symphony. She is an upcoming graduate of the VAST Academy at HCC.
Sashi Nisankarao
Sashi Nisankarao, Senior ADA Compliance Manager at the Harris County Election Administrator's Office, is an attorney and disability advocate who is excited to bring her classically-trained vocal talents back to the ReelMusic stage.
Helayna Barber
Helayna Barber is a member of The Next Step Academy’s Theatre Education Class of 2023, founder of Nothing About Us Without Us, the school’s disability-inclusivity initiative, and stage manager/teaching artist for both Alliance Theatre & Better Together Performing Arts Academy.

Holly lives in New York and has performed with national tours of Elf the Musical & The Elf on the Shelf Musical. Regional credits include A Chorus Line, Chicago, & Footloose. She was featured with Lady GaGa in the Sinatra100 CBS Special and with Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers in Vegas
